 David Pompa Ambra Toba Table white is a part of a new set of light sculptures, creating a perfect match between ancient stones and aluminium.

Ambra Toba Table is a sculpture of volcanic origin, with at his heart the Mexican “Toba Volcánica” stone, that meets the white aluminium.

The textures of the light sculpture disclose that the stone was formed from minerals, volcanic debris, and glass, accumulated over the course of

millions of years.

The unique texture of the geometrical surface is an evidence of the different past eruptions.

The Ambra Toba table completes the circle of performance, science, culture, and beauty while remaining in its native setting, Mexico City,

thanks to its construction from volcanic stone and aluminium.

Thus, the lamp allows us to connect with the progression of both the aesthetic and design.

The potent contrast between the porous textures and the subtle white highlights the studios’ modern take on traditional resources and craftsmanship.

Thorough researches have been conducted to achieve such a compelling result. The latter manages to blend two specific elements into

industrial lines while respecting the handiwork of Mexican artists.

All this work has resulted in a brand new collection of pieces that will enhance your interiors with their light.

David Pompa. Both Austrian and Mexican, he studied a master in product design at Kingston University in London. In 2008 he founded studio davidpompa.

His intrigue for Mexican materials started in 2009 in Oaxaca, this was the first contact David had with Barro Negro. This experimentations with black clay lead to our first collection in 2013.

The same year the first showroom in Roma Norte, in the heart of Mexico City was opened. Awarded in 2015 rising talent Maison & Objet Paris and rising talent M&O Americas in Miami.

In 2017 studio davidpompa became the first Mexican brand at Euroluce – Salone del Mobile Milano. Always intrigued about Mexican culture,

his quest for new forms and materials continues together with his passion for a collective work with a young creative team.
